Anti-blemish plan

Morning lovelies,

I've always suffered with blemishes around my chin and jawline, but found it difficult to treat as I also had very dry skin. In the past year, my skin has changed, and become more balanced, and armed with some great new products, I can treat any breakouts a little quicker.

The first thing I recommend is HRI's Clear Complexion tablets. The contain Burdock Root, Blue Flag and Sarsaparilla, all herbal extracts that are classified as blood purifiers. This means they draw toxins out the blood via the skin. I take these on and off, as I believe I build up tolerance quite quickly, so I do two weeks on, two weeks off. They have made a massive difference to me, this was probably the first thing I tried before the other products below, which resulted in much fewer blemishes. You can get these from Holland and Barrett for £4.15. Please check with a doctor if you have any allergies or are on any medication though!

The next set of products are also from Holland and Barrett and its their Manuka Doctor range which is currently exclusive to them. The range has been in the news alot as it contained purified bee venom or "Nature's Botox" and Manuka Honey. They do several types in the range; apiclear for blemish prone skin and apinourish for ageing skin, but both contain bee venom. The venom is extracted in a bee friendly way, so the bees survive! Bee venom is said to have a tightening and plumping effect, whilst manuka honey is anti-bacterial.The range is also paraben and sls free, but obviously stay away if you are allergic to bee stings.

My first purchase from the range was the Foaming Cleanser.  Add a little water to your face, then massage in, then wash off - I use a muslin cloth for this. I find all the products have a very slight tightening feeling, but to me that feels like its working! This was my wonder product, as it cleared up a breakout in two days, and left my skin feeling hydrated and slightly plumped! I then added in the Skin Treament Serum, which you only need one pump of. This I use on very bad days and concentrate on my chin and cheeks. I have gone through 2 and a half bottles in about 6 months, but initially, I think I was using too much, so have cut that down. With regular use, this cleared everything up very quickly again, but was a little drying for me, so I added in the Facial Moisturising Lotion to use over the top. Then I also thought "what the hell" and through in the Facial Toner! I also have the blemish cream for putting directly onto stubborn spots. I put this on thickly for some time, then rub in.
Just recently, I purchased the Dr Nick Lowe Sebum Control Cleanser Anti-blemish as I saw it on sale in Boots. I wanted to add in a liquid cleanser for lazy days or heavy make up days when I might need to double cleanse.
I don't always use the full range every day, if my skin is behaving, I may switch back to my No7 Beautiful Skin Hot Cloth Cleanser, which I LOVE, with just the Serum or Moisturiser. The products work even better over time, as they work to prevent further breakouts as well, as eliminates causes of blemishes.

Make up wise, there are a couple of things I swear by. For really bad days when I need alot of coverage, I use the Estee Lauder Double Wear Maximum Cover foundation. This is seriously heavy, but I find if you use half the amount you would use for a normal foundation, it doesn't look heavy or fake, just evens the skin tone and covers blemishes. You can even just use it as a concealer. Below is a shot of me wearing it to a work do. As you can see, not a blemish in sight, but as it has SPF, a little bit of ghost face going on (and drunk face!)

On good skin days, or non-work days I use No7 Beautiful Skin BB Cream for Dry Skin in Fair. I also sometimes use this as a base for makeup. I think it really agrees with my skin, as BB creams have lots of benefits for your skin.
For concealer, I use Benefit's Erase paste, in No1 Fair. I've used this for about three years now, and have never found a concealer that lives up to it! Its brilliant for under the eyes as well, as it has a slight pink undertone which counteracts the blue circles under my eyes.

Two extra things worth mentioning are items to keep things clean! I use Carex Hand Gel in Aloe Vera before, during and after I have any contact with my face, and keep this with all my make up. The other thing is a cleanser I picked up before the Dr Nick Lowe one. It is the Good Things Deep Pore Anti-blemish cleanser. I tried this on my skin, but found it didn't take all my make up off in one go, although it smelled delicious. I threw it to the back of a drawer until I was on the hunt for a brush cleanser. I absolutely swear by Real Techniques Brushes by Samantha Chapman of Pixiwoo fame, and deep cleanse my brushes once a week. However, I was planning to buy Mac's Brush Cleanser to use as a spot cleanser, but couldn't afford it, so thought I'd try using the Good Works Cleanser. I pop it on a cotton pad, and after I've finished using a brush, I clean it off on the pad. This keeps the brushes clean, gets rid of some bacteria and means I can switch between colours every day.

Its not to say I never get blemishes anymore, but its my biggest skin concern, so I tailor my skincare routine and make-up routine around preventing and getting rid of any. I've seen a massive improvement in my skin since using these products, so I will continue with these for now.

Skeleton Look ft. Hayley Natascha

Afternoon again lovlies,

After my last look on Hayley, she did a look on me. Quite a while back, I spotted an amazing skeleton look she did on herself on her facebook page, and I suggested she film a tutorial for it for her blog, with me as the guinea pig!  The only products used were my foundation I already had on, which was Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation and a black kohl pencil from Bourjous. Having the foundation on first really helped with the blending, as it is a very dewy, moisturizing foundation. Here is the finished look....its a little scary!

The video is taken from Hayley's Channel

This may be this year's Hallowe'en look!

Revlon Lip Butters

Evening lovelies,

When I first saw the Revlon Lip Butters a few months ago on another blog, I knew I wanted them, but restrained myself and only bought two. However, it seems today, my collection stands at 7!

I love the colour range, and the pigmentation is great for a product that is part lip balm. They go on a little sticky like a gloss to begin with, but as that dries, it feels like you aren't wearing anything. They do transfer a little but otherwise are quite long lasting and super moisturising.

I now have one for every day of the week!

From left to right: Tutti Frutti, Peach Parfait, Candy Apple, Cotton Candy, Lollipop, Strawberry Shortcake and Macaroon

I've been bad at blogging so far, but I plan to do more as I'm off work for two weeks soon! I'm also going to do a tutorial video with Hayley Natascha, my very good friend and youtube beauty blogger! She's also going to do an amazing Skeleton face tutorial on me!

Soap & Glory

Afternoon lovelies,

Anyone who knows me, knows that I adore Soap & Glory. I've had their products from the very beginning, and got so excited when they brought out the make-up range! I have a huge collection, and its tough to pick favourites, but I'm gonna try to pick my top three from each; body, face and make-up.
BODY
1. The Righteous Butter - Probably the first thing I ever bought, I repurchase this again and again, does wonders for my dry skin and smells incredible
2. Scrub, Actually - I love sugar based scrubs, and this one is no exception, leaves my skin feeling silky for days!
3. Wash Your Hands Of It! - The set that this comes in with Hand Food only comes out for Christmas. When I moved into my own flat, I bought three boxes in December, to try and keep me going all year, yet my last Boots trip revealed that they are now selling it seperatly! Hooray!
FACE
1. The Fab Pore - The box pictured is actually empty, just used the last drop up! Its a clay based mask, which leaves my face feeling really soft.
2. Night in Shining Armour Cream - Gorgeous night cream, reminds me of Benefit's Dear John, quite thick and creamy, but absorbs well.
3. Hocus Focus - Because I wear quite heavy foundation. I don't use this too often on my face, maybe sometimes to highlight my cheekbones. I more often use this on my decolletage if I'm wearing a low top, gives a really nice subtle shimmer, and picks up my collarbone nicely!
MAKE-UP
 1. Supercat Carbon Black Extreme Eyeliner Pen - not a day goes by when I don't wear this baby. I've also got on best with pen eyeliners or gel eyeliners, and this is the best I've used, the colour payoff is great and it never smudges.
2. Lid Stuff in Smokey Dokey - I have all three Lid Stuff palettes, but this is my favourite. Its perhaps a little too shimmery for my taste, but its a good selection.
3. Love at First Blush - Gorgeous, natural blush, its not hugely pigmented, but gives a lovely shimmery flush to the skin

Below are some swatches:

 Super Cat Eyeliner

 Smokey Dokey Lid Stuff
L-R: Chine, Dimondust, Smokin', Black Gold

Love at First Blush

A very rushed smokey eye look using Lid Stuff, Supercat Eyeliner and Thick & fast Mascara.

Southampton Haul

Morning lovelies,

Yesterday, I had to attend a training course for my job in Southampton, which happened to fall on pay day, so I of course, went shopping during lunch and after it finished! Here is my haul:

In La Senza, they had £5 off sleepwear sets, and i couldn't resist the adorable bunny set for £15!
In Primark I bought the gorgeous heart print shirt, I think under my suit jacket for work, it's going to look gorgeous!
In TKMaxx I bought the black dress which you can see better here:

I have a really big event coming up next month, where there will be an informal and a formal dinner. I love this dress, it going to be my informal dinner dress, but I will definetely wear it again. It was £16.99. In TKMaxx I also picked up my favourite reed diffuser in English Strawberry, yum!

In Primark, I picked up some accessories. The heart print bow belt, the pink sparkly heart ring, the pink rose ring, the strawberry necklace and the black bow hair clip.
I love the Katy Perry lashes I bought the other day, the Cool Kitty ones, so I picked up two more sets in Boots. I got Oh, My! and Oh, Honey! Oh, My are the double lash effect ones, and will be saved for very big nights, but the Oh, Honey ones are slightly more natural, but have a gorgeous wing effect in the corners, so I will be wearing these alot more often. I also picked up the Real Techniques Stippling brush which I have been coveting on nearly every beauty blog I read for months! I'm going to try it out with my foundation in a minute, despite the fact I'm only going to the corner shop!

There were a few things I saw that I regret not buying, as I didn't have a lot of time, but unluckily for my bank account, I have another training course in Southampton on Monday, so I'll just have to pick more up!

New Haircare Products

Evening lovelies,

After scouring every local Boots to find Batisse dry Shampoo in Cherry, I finally found it in my Guildford store. Had to have it, never been in to dry shampoos before, but to have my hair smelling like cherries, I couldn't resist. Havan't tried it yet on my hair, but it smells divine.

I decided to take advantage of the Boots 3 for 2 and try some new hair care bits. I've always been a fan of Umberto Gianni, when I attempt to make my hair curly, I always use the Flirty Curls Scrunching Jelly and the Shapely Curls Mouse. I decided to pick up the Old School Setting Lotion for Big Hair to use with my bendy rollers overnight for a 50's set and the Backcomb in a Bottle. I love the packaging of both, the look gorgeous on my newly painted drawers

Today I tried the Backcomb in a Bottle. This is supposed to give your hair volume and texture without resorting to backcombing. You spray onto the roots from about 6 inches away and "jujj" your hair up. I agree it gave my hair volume and texture, but perhaps not to the extremes it suggests. I love volume but try to avoid backcombing when I can to save my hair, so I was hoping for a little more. I expect the best results come from mixing with volume boosting shampoo and conditioner - I used my Naturtint shampoo and conditioner this time, as my scalp was feeling a little itchy.

Below you can see the before and after - there defitetely is a difference, and bear in mind, I did this pretty roughly and quickly - with more effort, I probably could have got more volume. The colour of the pictures came out awful so yes, they are altered in that respect
                                                                  BEFORE
                                                                 AFTER

Have you tried any Umberto Gianni products?
